Rural Studio finished its two pilot homes in January – in the tiny town of Serenbe,​ outside Atlanta – with the help of a commercial developer. Its next challenge is to forge a viable path to market and convince city officials of the safety and viability of its construction methodology, which associate director Rusty Smith has described as more akin to an aircraft than a house.
