Wellness community Serenbe, a 45-minute drive south from metro Atlanta, is opening a new cocktail bar and restaurant named Austin’s on July 20.
“We were inspired by the bars and lounges of Paris and London of the ‘20s – we wanted to give the decadent experience where people can come together spontaneously,” says Steve Nygren, founder and CEO of Serenbe.
The decadent experience includes a menu with a focus on seasonal dishes and bar snacks like oysters, caviar services, and vegetable platters. Larger entrees will feature snapper with burnt scallion and a butter sauce, and a sous vide short rib brushed with fermented honey that takes nearly three days to make. Co-chefs Tyler Braun (formerly Staplehouse) and Jesse Sherwood (whose family owns the Newnan diner Town & Country) are leading the kitchen and are part of the team behind Serenbe’s other restaurants, The Farmhouse, The Hill, and Halsa.

Farm-to-table dining is the central focus at Austin’s. Farm-to-table mixology is another thing.
The beverage team will use botanicals from local farms, including the one on the property, Serenbe Farms, to create unique cocktails with floral and herbal flavors. Seasonal ingredients will be used to make shrubs in-house like lime and cucmuber, and pineapple and jalapeno. Syrups made from vanilla, hibiscus, and lavender will also be used in the drinks, says Austin’s beverage director Cedar Meyers.
Take the Equestrian as an example, made with whiskey, Cocchi Rosa (aromatised wine made with extracts of flowers and spices), Drambuie (liqueur made from Scotch, honey, herbs and spices), Benedictine, bitters, and garnished with lemon peel. Or the Southern Beauty made with sake, St. Germain, creme de violette, peach bitters, lemon, and grapefruit. Zero-proof drinks will be available, along with a beer and wine selection.

As for the vibes, there’s plenty of pretty to look at. Austin’s is designed by Atlanta-based firm Rook & Dash — focusing on a modern, luxurious aesthetic with ten moss green boucle booths, a leather bartop for 19 guests, and an overall capacity of 95 people.
Serenbe is a 1,400-acre neighborhood in Chattahoochee Hills, home to farms, restaurants, a horse ranch, and residential properties with about a thousand residents. It is the brainchild of businessman Nygren and his wife Marie, who envisioned a community that could care for the environment, farm its own produce, and support the arts.
