It’s even been called “the city in a forest” for its substantial tree canopy coverage. Atlanta’s rampant population growth and increasing urban density put the connection between its citizens and its ecology at risk. An emerging design approach with a scientific-sounding name may be just the way to mitigate that risk. Biophilic design is the practice of creating buildings inspired by the natural environment that re-establish the connection between people and nature. Atlanta is experiencing a biophilic bonanza.
