An innovator when it comes to wellness and biophilic design, Serenbe will soon redefine senior living with a planned aging-in-place campus. Part of a larger development known as Mado Hamlet, the proposed senior wellness campus will feature rental apartments and cottages, street-level retail and a restaurant. But unlike traditional senior developments, the Serenbe model separates residential living from medical care. With the aid of an on-site medical concierge, residents will be able to pick and choose from a range of healthcare services and providers, including concierge primary care membership, wellness coaches and Eastern and Western medical practitioners in Serenbe.

Something else that makes this senior wellness campus unique is the way in which it will be integrated into the surrounding community to foster intergenerational living. “The Mado Hamlet at Serenbe that is in development has a commercial focus on health at all ages,” says Steve Nygren, Serenbe’s founder. “The aging-in-place campus is intentionally placed in the center of Mado, where it will be located across from the infant to 12th-grade Acton school and the Swim Club. Seeing children decreases social isolation and gives the elders a sense of belonging while also improving social skills for children.”
