One day can change your whole life, according to the Global Wellness Institute.
One day can change your whole life, according to the Global Wellness Institute. We’ve certainly seen proof of that at Serenbe - residents tell stories all the time about how they visiting for an event, a trail ride, or a weekend getaway only to end their trip with a home under contract. So when GWI created Global Wellness Day to honor living a “well” life, we were all in!
The first Global Wellness Day was in 2012 in Turkey, with the main objectives being: to recognize the value of our lives, to pause and think, to be free from the stress of everyday city life and bad habits, to make peace with ourselves, and to raise awareness about living well and increasing motivation not just for one day but for the whole year.
Serenbe’s Global Wellness Day celebration started with a bike ride to the Serenbe Farmers Market, which reopened on June 6, 2020 on the Selborne Green. Susan O’Connor with the GWI led a group meditation, then residents shopped for fruits & veggies, meats, prepared foods, and other treats from local farmers and producers.
Steve then took the group on a nature walk through Serenbe’s trails, ending at the One Mado building for a celebration where he expressed that Serenbe strives to be an example of living a well life in balance connected to people and to nature.
The 2019 Global Wellness Day was celebrated at 8,000 different locations throughout more than 150 countries, with events ranging from a 45K marathon or Zumba and Tai Chi to the medical care of children at the Thailand and Myanmar border and visiting elderly people’s houses. Serenbe residents have been choosing aspects of a well-lived life since they came here, so they were glad to be a part of the 2020 movement!
Here are some special moments from the day.
