Luxury farm living at the 2022 Serenbe Designer Showhouse
Modern Farmhouse is out. Glam Farmhouse is in.
That is how Patrick Sharp, one half of Mister & Mrs. Sharp, describes the 2022 Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Serenbe Designer Showhouse. “It’s a true farmhouse but with a touch of glamour. It’s going back to Serenbe’s roots.”
The showhouse, which is the 9th designer showhouse Serenbe and Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles have collaborated on, will feature 13 of Atlanta’s top interior designers across more than 5,000 square feet. Exposed beams and stone interior walls evoke western farmhouse vibes that are felt even stronger when you look out the floor-to-ceiling windows and doors lining the back of the house and see Serenbe Farms just beyond the backyard. The vibe continues with a large chandelier “made of naturally shorn antlers and dripping in cut crystals” that will hang from the vaulted ceiling in the living room, which begins at 14 feet and peaks at 28 feet above the finished floor. A large cupola on top of the roofline provides even more natural light.
Some other interior features include “fantastic steel doors in the home that open to the backyard,” according to Patrick. “We are also working to create a staircase covered in a solid surface with veining that will look like it’s cut out of one big piece of marble.”
Mister & Mrs. Sharp are this year’s lead designers, choosing the home’s finishes and creating “a thread of design elements that will continue throughout the house,” while also taking on furnishings of the kitchen and dining room. “This is our fourth showhouse, and it has been a completely different experience from the previous three,” said Patrick, who’s first Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Serenbe Designer Showhouse project was a Powder Room. “[This year’s house] already has a homeowner, so it’s been fun getting to know them and the neighbors. It has been much more collaborative and an added benefit is that we have three or four sets of eyes on any given design choice. There’s more scrutiny, more attention to detail.”
There are four bedrooms with en-suite baths in the main house, including the massive owner’s suite on the main level. The suite is accessible from the cozy yet substantial library just off the main living room, and it has private access to the large screened back porch. A guest bedroom is on the main level, then two more beds and baths are upstairs. Above the 3-car (plus golf cart) garage is a separate apartment suite that includes an additional bedroom and bathroom with living room, kitchen, and its own porch that looks out over the Farm.
If you think the interiors will be luxurious, just wait for the outdoor living spaces. In addition to the screened-in and guest apartment porches, there’s an open patio off the living area, an arbor spanning the length of the garage, and a large terrace area that will blend soft and hard landscaping, all of which “wrap around a beautiful pool and sauna that enjoys private wooded vistas.” Not to be outdone by the backyard, a lush front walkway leads to the 40-foot wide front porch and entry, perfect for sitting and enjoying drinks while waving to neighbors passing by. Just another day in “life on the farm.”
